Starving artists?

The U.S. government-financed contractors shown in this graphic paid $623,670,330 to artists, writers and performers from Nov. 7, 1996, to March 17, 2015. The Broadcasting Board of Governors, which oversees Radio and TV Martí, accounted for $73,095,499 of the money.
